Guide To Whakapapa Ski Field
Whakapapa Ski Field is a large ski area that offers a wide range of terrain for all abilities. The Mt Ruapehu is made up of two separate areas, Turoa and Whakapapa.
If you're looking for somewhere to stay during your visit, there are a number of accommodation options available in the area. There's everything from private lodges to backpacker hostels and hotels.
Whakapapa Ski Field is home to both downhill skiing and snowboarding facilities. Downhill skiing runs through four main areas: Red Peak (lower), Green Glades (mid-mountain), Gold Basin (upper) and White Mist Basin (extreme). There are also plenty of cross-country trails for those who enjoy getting out on foot instead of sliding down the slopes in style!
The season at Whakapapa Ski Field runs from mid June through until early October each year (weather permitting).
