What you will like about Turoa is the wide variety of terrain it offers skiers and snowboarders. On one slope you can head down straight toward Mt. Ruapehu, then make a sharp left turn and ski up to another peak. If you're an advanced skier or boarder, you're in a good place.
You can carve your way through narrow runs that snake up and down and the powder lasts longer than most of the other fields in NZ. If you're an intermediate skier or boarder, don't worry -you still have a good time at Turoa, with plenty of chances to improve your skills on the ample beginner runs that wrap around the main field

Turoa Ski Field has lots of parking available onsite but its always worthwhile taking the rule of Ski Fields in mind and arriving early so you secure a good spot.
It is also recommend if you are driving up especially after some fresh snow to bring chains in the car as the road will get quite snowy.
As Wellington and Auckland are quite far away for the Moring bus ride up the mountain it is recommend to stay in nearby Ohakune, there are plenty of commercial bus services that can take you here. From there its best to stay overnight in town and book yourself one of the local busses from Ohakune to Turoa so you are able to get to the mountain nice and early for a full day on the slopes.
