Sundance Mountain Ski Resort Terrain

The Sundance Ski Resort’s terrain is varied and dynamic, providing awesome winter thrills to adventurous revelers. The resort features a minimal 450 acres of skiable terrain, with 45 runs that are lift accessible. The ski area is situated on an elevation of between 2,515 meters (the highest lifted point on the resort) and 1,850 meters (the lowest lifted point).

The topmost part of the mountain features lines of ridges, bowls, and gullies that stream down to the mountain’s midsection. There are also some tree skiing opportunities which include light trees.

The official trail statistics are as follows:

  • 35% beginner
  • 45% intermediate
  • 20% advanced

Beginner riding at the Sundance Ski Resort

The beginner slopes at Sundance are great places for more confident beginners to enjoy the snow. It may be a bit daunting for absolute novices as the beginner area is not designated. However, due to relatively fewer crowds, novices can still enjoy winter sports and quickly progress to more challenging slopes. Ray’s Quad’s three departure points have long beginner slopes that allow beginners to enjoy pleasant cruises down the mountain.

Intermediate Skiing and Snowboarding at Sundance

The wide expanse at Maverick delights mid- and lower-level intermediates who get to enjoy the mellow slopes down the mountain. More experienced intermediates can find challenging slopes further upslope in Wild Flower and Bear Claw lift serviced areas.

Advanced Skiing and Snowboarding at Sundance

Advanced skiers and snowboarders delight in the resort’s line of steep ridges and gullies. The Bishop’s Bowl at the top of Arrowhead is the most popular advanced snow sports area due to its pleasant and challenging features. The snow quality and fall lines get better from either side of the expert area, particularly the Far East or Bishops Gates off the Amy’s Ridge section.

Expert Slopes at Sundance Ski Resort

The expert runs at Sundance are not clearly defined. However, they are hard to miss, aided by signposts between Bishop’s Cat track and Pipeline. The resort has double black slopes that excite expert riders, even though they are less challenging than in the neighboring resorts.

Lifts at Sundance Mountain Ski Resort

The Sundance Ski Resort’s 450 acres are serviced by a network of 6 chairs and a rope tow that allows convenient access to various slopes on the mountain. The ski area is serviced by two chairs that get you to the top of the resort, the Ray’s quad, and Arrowhead triple. There is a handle tow on beginner terrain and the advanced and expert areas are mostly serviced by the Flathead triple chair.
